Update: 9/12/10 - Dolly had some serious health issues, so her loving family decided to let the sweet old girl go. RIP, Dolly.
Dolly is doing really well --- now. But when she was first rescued in a case of serious animal neglect, she had been living in the mountains without adequate care for several years. In fact, this poor girl might not have survived the harsh winter in the mountains without the kindness of a neighbor who contacted Moonsong and cared for Dolly.
It's hard to know the extent of what this poor girl experienced, but it seems to have been a hard life. When Moonsong rescued Dolly as a part of the “Eight Above” rescue operation she was cold and so weak she had difficulty standing on her own. Her tail and hips were missing fur, too! The team was not sure that sweet Dolly would survive.
What a difference a just a few days with TLC made for Dolly. Dolly is getting around just fine with her other dog mates, Sweet Pea and Tank, and boy, does she love people. The more the merrier, especially if you have soft treats! This wonderful, resilient mature malamute will need a family that can provide Dolly with short daily walks and plenty of love. Dolly would like a family with children over 13.
Dolly is ready to forget and forgive what has happened in the past. She would love to go home with a caring family and receive her “happily ever after.”
