Update: 3/6/10 - Due to the kindness of the Animal Control Supervisor, Mika was spared being euthanized on Friday and she will be taken into rescue by Alaskan Malamute Oregon Rescue (AMOR) and Songdog Rescue very soon!
The shelter will not adopt Mika out to the public because a human was bitten on the finger trying to break up a fight between Mika and another small dog. Mika's owner abandoned her at the shelter. She is good with people and was running loose with a neutered male dog, so is probably good with larger dogs. Probably not good with cats. She is spayed and up to date on her inoculations. She knows basic commands and they have described her as a big girl. She is estimated to be around 2-3 years old. She has been couped up in the shelter for a month without any exercise and will be so happy to get out!

Hi, my name is Copper. I am a smaller red and white boy and was pulled from a shelter in North Idaho on my last day. I am very good with adults and children over 10, but would do best as an only pet. I have a sweet and playful disposition, and like attention. I am housebroken, and know the commands sit, down, paw, bow, and walk nice on a leash. I love love love to go for rides in the car, to the point where I sometimes try to get into other people's cars on walks! I do ride very nicely, though, so you might just like to take me along. I also like toys and will play with them by myself, running hither and yon flinging them in the air, but can also fetch them for you. (Check out my video!) I am current on inoculations, micro chipped, and neutered. My only quirk is that I do not like to be bathed, but did just have to undergo that torture and must admit it wasn't as bad as I thought and now I am looking rather dapper! I do take a low dose of Soloxine twice a day for a mild thyroid condition, at the cost of about $13 a month. I am so ready for a new home, please contact MMR and arrange to meet me!

Hi, I’m Torin and I’m an 8 month old pup that was taken into rescue due to the owner undergoing personal crises. I’m told I’m very sweet, eager to please and very smart. But please know that I’m still learning about the big wide world. I really didn’t start living until I came into foster care, and luckily, I have a great foster sister who I get to follow around and learn about what big dogs do! I would prefer to be in a forever home with an established pack where I can continue my development and grow into being a good dog. I’m still a little shy around new things, but I’m getting better each day. I absolutely love to hang out with my other canine friends and I’m great with cats and children. But it’s very important that I am in a home that understands that I still need a lot of work so I’m properly socialized and trained. Even though I’m as cute as a button now, remember that I will most likely become a 90 lb large, powerful malamute! I love my chew toys, stuffed animals, rope toys and kongs. Hi there, you all can call me North. I am a bit confused as to what is expected of me right now, it seems I am seeking a change in profession. I was a sled dog, and didn't do much other than run in harness, so I don't know a lot about people and living inside. I was abandoned along with my other sled mates, so I am certainly willing to learn how to be a pet, especially if it keeps me from going back on death row in a shelter. Moonsong believes me to be a Malamute/Siberian cross, heavy on the Mal, since I am a good sized boy, but have striking, ice-blue eyes. I am a bit shy, but very nice. I know basic sledding commands, walk nice on leash, load and ride well, and did fine getting my recent vet exam and inoculations. I am also micro chipped and neutered. I do need to be house trained, and will need some time to warm up to you, but really want a new happy life that includes lots of love. Hi, my name is Bear. I am a very quiet and shy former sled dog member. I’m looking forward to my early retirement and becoming someone’s best friend. Right now everything is very new and a little scary. With a little time, lots of love and patience I’ll show you just how sweet I can be. Although I’m still a little nervous around people, I’m starting to trust my foster Dad. I’ll come to him outside, and when I’m inside I’ll even give him very gentle kisses and sit on his lap.
I would love to be in a home with another dog. My foster brother is really helping me feel more comfortable and safe. He is trying to show me how to play, but it’s still pretty new to me. Wrestling is kinda fun, but I’m not so sure about all those toys yet.
Even though I spent my life pulling a sled, I walk very well on a leash. I never pull and I’m right by your side the entire time. When I go for car rides I sit very well and my foster dad will open the window for me just enough to hang my head out, I like that a lot.
I’ll be neutered and micro chipped soon, and current on all my inoculations. Now I just need a forever home who wants to snuggle and teach me how to be a part of the family.

Kenzi is a sweet Malamute who was transferred to the Casper, WY. shelter from a Texas sanctuary because they thought the heat was making him chew his coat. We took him into rescue and as it turns out he is allergic to lots of grains, some meats and needs inexpensive thyroid medication. He is on the mend in his foster home and his coat is starting to come in and look much better. He enjoys his regular walks and is starting to sprint up the stairs! Kenzi is dog and cat friendly and just loves people and kids. He is neutered, current on innoculations and housetrained.

Hi! My name is Coda and I'm a 1.5 year old, 50lb energetic female Siberian Husky. Well, it's official, I'm now a Moonsong Siberian! Now that I'm part of the club, I've been spayed, microchipped and current on my inoculations. I'm great with female and male dogs of all sizes, but I think I would be best in a home with dogs that are non-dominant as I tend to be a little bossy. I would also prefer to be in a cat-free home and a home with children 13yrs or older.
My foster mom has really been working on my training, and I can now sit, down, wait and come. I need to be in a new home that will continue to work with my obedience, and socialization as I'm still learning doggy manners and my boundaries. Are you someone that can give me my forever home? Hello there, my name is Snowflake! I am an active, but mellow tempered and quiet-natured young (under 2) Siberian Husky. I love people and other dogs, and enjoy playing with either. I am fine around children, but might knock smaller ones over, so would need to be supervised around them. No cats or small prey animals, please, though I would be fine around smaller dogs. I am pretty spry and petite, so need tall fencing with no gaps or holes. I need general obedience training at this time, but do walk pretty nice on a leash. Unknown if I am house trained, but have not had any accidents in the house when spending short periods of time indoors. I would make an ideal hiking or running companion for someone who frequents areas where dog friendly dogs are welcome, or for a family who wants to lavish attention on me and take me on regular romps. I am just an overall very sweet, loving little girl who needs a happy new home.

These are the adult dogs from a Montana puppy mill raid. They have all been spayed/neutered and treated by a vet. They are all in various stages of socialization. They need homes. A couple of people experienced with huskies have been working with some of the dogs and said that after working with them for a few months that they have all gained their trust and would be great dogs if someone is patient and earns their love. Through no fault of his own, Lobo has come into rescue at age 8. He is in excellent health and physical condition and is an active and playful boy. He really wants to have his own home again where he will be loved. Lobo is a really good boy and does very well with obedience. He knows sit, down, stay, heel, shake, come, get in the truck and give me a kiss....what more could someone ask???!!!!! Lobo is really a good car rider, in fact, he loves to go for rides and he sits quietly and waits when left in the car alone. He does have a high prey drive so would not be good in a home where there are cats or other small animals. Lobo is a beautiful dog who would make someone an awesome companion and who has plenty of good years left...perhaps someone with an older female who has lost her companion??? Winnie is a one year old Siberian Husky. She is current on all shots and is spayed. Winnie was part of a puppy mill raid in Montana and hasn't had the best start on life. She is extremely shy and timid around people. She gets along great with other dogs. She needs someone who will spend lots of time getting her to trust humans. Once she has bonded, Winnie is very sweet and loving and just wants to sit on your lap. She would do best in a home with another dog but would likely be afraid of small children. Neeko is a beautiful male Malamute about 2-3 years old. He is a loving but energetic guy who was originally sold as an amateur sled dog. He came into rescue after his owner dumped him as a stray. He's good with other dogs, mostly OK with cats (inside) and probably loves kids but would knock preschoolers over with his exuberance and big tail. He loves to sit on the couch with his head in your lap. A secure fenced yard is required and prior successful experience with northern breed dogs preferred. Neeko is crate and house trained, neutered and current on innoculations.

One little bundle of energy and happiness is left and ready for adoption. Akhina was rescued from a breeder who did not contain her animals and all the puppies were to be taken by animal control and put to sleep...needless to say, we could not let this happen to such precious babies who were only 3 wks old at the time. Akhina is located at Songdog Rescue in S. Oregon and has been hand fed, loved and well socialized and will make a wonderful lifetime companion.

Osmar is between 8 and 9 years old and is reported to have run on experienced sled teams in 200 mile races. Osmar is good with other dogs. He is currently looking for a foster home and is also looking for a permanent home where he can get a lot of exercise and attention. If you have a younger dog you would like to train to mush, skijor, bikejor etc., fostering and or adopting an older experienced dog, who is able to show your dog the ropes, is priceless. Osmar is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

Often times a dog walks through our doors that absolutely breaks our hearts and Toby is definitely one of those dogs. There is such an air of sadness about him - some indistinguishable nuance that just tugs at your heart strings. The look in his eye ... the way he carries his head ... just makes you want to hug him and tell him it will all be OK. Toby was a stray and was found out on a ranch in the middle of nowhere - no one knows how he got there or where he came from. Local ads were posted but no one claimed him -- the family that took him in really did not want another dog but they took care of him the best they could and have had Toby since last July. Recently, they decided that this sad boy deserved a family of his own so called us and asked if we would do the honors of finding him that home which we gladly obliged. |
