Hi, my name is Copper, and I am a Chow-a-Mute. I was found wandering alone in the streets, and when Animal Control picked me up, they called the number assigned to my micro chip. My people told them they had never heard of me! Not only was I heartbroken, but thus began a very harrowing period where it was whispered that if I was not adopted, I would be sold to a vet school, and they would do experiments on me. As my time ticked away, I was afraid I might spend my last days strapped to a table being tortured. Then a lady came, saying she was with Moonsong. I sing at the moon, and I told them so, and so they took me away. Now I am not all Mal, but I am a dapper red and white gentleman with a sweet and playful disposition. I love, love, love to go for rides in the car, so why don’t you hop in yours and cruise on over to meet me? I do load up and ride very nicely, so you might just like to take me along! I have been at the Moonsong rescue kennels for 3 years now, and it’s time for someone to take me out for a test drive and discover how sweet and affectionate I really am. I want to know again what it’s like to go for Sunday drives, just you, me, and the wind in my fur! I’ve been dreaming about the day I get out of my kennel and into your heart (and your SUV) for that ride to my fur-ever home. And maybe, when we’re not out exploring the highways and byways together, you could play fetch with me ‘cause I also like toys so much that I will even play with them by myself (check out my video). I am housebroken, and know the commands sit, down, paw, and bow. I walk nicely on a leash and of course load up in the car. I have only two faults, I need to be the King of my new domain, so I won’t do well with other pets, and I am on a low dose of Soloxine for a mild thyroid condition. Please make my dreams of car rides and a loving home of my own come true, I have been waiting for oh so long.

Hi! My name is Scout. I am a handsome, active, healthy adult male Malamute whose long-time human died, leaving me all alone. I am very sad to have lost my friend and the only home I have ever known. Rescue took me in, but I have been here in the Moonsong emergency rescue kennels a very long time, almost 2 years. Although I have been in rescue for a while now, I am an optimist and will not to lose hope that I can find a new home and some new people to love ‘cause I’ve got a whole lot of love to give. I am very affectionate and can’t wait to be petted, hugged and have my great big adorable ears rubbed. I was a house dog before, and had all the love and attention any dog could want, but there are 7 other foster dogs here. My foster family does the best they can for me, but I get very sad sometimes, not having anyone to look out just for me. I really miss living in the house with my human. I am well trained, house broken, and great on a leash, and I do very well on a Springer attached to a bike. I am a big, healthy boy who loves regular exercise. Do you need a companion for those hikes in the hills? I am your boy! Do you want a pal to snuggle with and watch TV? I am your boy! I am ready for you and all the love, fun and adventure you have to offer. I need to be the man of the house, but I can to go to a home with a mellow female dog, and please no cats or small children. Hi! I am Cleo, a lovely adult female Malamute. After giving my love to one family my whole life, they decided that I wasn’t good enough for them any longer, and I was left in a kill shelter. I might have died there, had my Guardian Angels not swooped in to save me for you to love instead. It is destiny for us to be together, and I have been waiting over a year in the rescue kennels of Moonsong to be found by the right human. So, now that you know I am here, hurry and come get me! I am sad sometimes, because it is hard being one of so many who also need care, and there isn’t room for us all to be in the house. I so miss being with my human pack. My full name is Celestial Cleopatra Star, and I need my stars to align again, in a happy new home with someone who really will love me forever. I can melt your heart when I gaze at you with my twinkle-y brown eyes and talk to you about the meaning of life in cute woo-woos when I play bow to get you to chase me. I love veggie snacks, tummy rubs, walks, lazy Sundays, playing in the water, or lying on the lawn gazing with you at the stars I was named for. My only fault it that I am truly a Queen in nature, and would be happiest as an only pet. Will I spend the rest of my days watching other Mallies get their new humans while I am left behind, or will you say that not being a puppy isn’t a sin, and I can love Cleo as well as one of them?

Hi, my name is Kenzi! I am a big Mal-a-nuff boy that is good with non dominant dogs of both sexes, cat friendly, and adore people in all sizes. I like walks and hikes, and don't pull on leash. I am house trained, but love to be outside in a shady area just watching the day unfold. I have a magnificent soul and lots of love to give, if you can see past my shaggy coat. I came to a Wyoming shelter from a Texas sanctuary because folks there thought the heat was making me chew my coat. After MMR rescued me they had a vet run a few tests. As it turns out, I have low thyroid levels and am allergic to most grains and beef. I am currently being fed a raw diet and taking inexpensive thyroid pills, my overall health along with my coat are improving. There are many grain-less dry foods on the market, so don't let my dietary needs scare you off, since there is so much about me to love! Make me your new best friend, you will never regret it.

Hello to you all, I am Mika. I am about 5 years old, and came from a shelter in California. My doggy friend and I had decided to go for a walkabout, and got picked up by Animal Control. When our people came to the shelter, they only took my housemate, and left me behind, saying I was trouble. It’s not true! I am a lovely, busy, big Mala-girl who enjoys being with my people, going for walks, and taking rides in the car. I am house trained, and know basic obedience commands. I love people, even children, but older children are best since I am very big and can play a bit rough. I do want to meet any dogs that already live with you, to make sure we will get along, I can be picky, and tend to do better with males than females. I need some leash work, since I tend to pull, but an Easy-Walk No-Pull harness does help keep me in tow. I am really cute and terribly sweet. Come and meet me, you will fall in love. The minute you meet him, you'll break into a smile! He is just so cheerful and smiley himself. Tank is a striking, red-head mature malamute that was one of the “ Eight Above” rescue dogs. This debonair gentleman is ready to steal your heart with his polite, affectionate manners. Tank’s gentle, sweet spirit will make him an ideal pet.
Tank was rescued by Moonsong with several other dogs during the “Eight Above” rescue mission. He spent several years in the mountains, chained to a tree without adequate care. What a sad past! But he's very friendly to everyone - and even gets along nicely with other dogs, like his foster mate, Sunshine.
Tank enjoys taking walks and being loved! He was friendly and relaxed during the rescue mission and during transport. What a sweetie pie. He is looking for his forever home, which will need to be with adults or children over 13.
All Tank needs now is a chance to show just how much he can love the right family every day for the rest of his life.

Sunshine is another big, fabulous redhead and one of the “ Eight Above” who was rescued when her lifelong owner passed away suddenly and left her without a retirement plan! She is a bit more reserved than her pack mate, Pumpkin but she’s every bit the looker and will certainly make heads turn with her beautiful diffuse red coat. Sunshine would love a fur-ever family who will take her out for short walks and pamper her with the finest kibble and gourmet treats to make up for the rough life she’s had up until now. A comfy dog bed would be nice too (and maybe that yummy beef bone if you aren’t going to eat it) but she isn’t greedy, she just needs to make up for some lost time.
Being a redhead Sunshine had some sun and windburn on her nose which has healed nicely. Sunshine is sharing space with Tank in her foster home so we know she would be fine with another mellow dog but we don’t know about cats and young children yet. Won’t you consider making this pretty older lady a part of your pack?

Hello there, my name is Olympia, but the MMR folks are calling me Oly for short. I am an adult female Malamute, abandoned by my owner to a kill shelter, where I was pulled by MMR shortly before "dead" day. I have been neglected, and one of my ears was damaged. My previous owner also made the poor decision to shave me, but my coat is recovering nicely, and is a beautiful dark tipped sable color. I am a really good girl with people, and would be fine in a house with children about age 6 and up. I am a leaner (I will lean into you for petting), like going for rides, walk well on-leash, give nice kisses, and have some basic obedience training. I am a food monger, so be aware I may steal morsels from your plate or counter if given the opportunity. I am being house trained, and am currently living in a house hold pack of 5 other large dogs of both sexes and getting along fine with them all. I am not good with cats or other small animals, however, but do appear to be safe around horses. Thus far, life hasn't been too kind to me, but I am still hopeful that will change. Will you be the one to give me a chance to finally experience the love and happiness we all deserve?

Hi, my name is Nakita. I am a young female Malamute whose family moved and left me in the local shelter because they said they couldn't have me at the new home. I am very sweet, good with other medium to larger dogs of both sexes, and children old enough to run and speak clearly. I am not good with crying babies or cats, however, and will chase livestock. I am very house trained, and know sit, down, and come. Like most Malamutes, however, come is more of a suggestion depending on the motivation provided. I am a woolie girl, and once my badly shaved coat (don't EVER do that) grows back in, I will be really lovely. I will need regular combing, and trimming of my feet and bloomers. I like to go for rides and walks, and would be a good jogging companion. I am VERY cuddly, too, and love to be the center of attention. Don't you need a nice sweet girl like me to share your life? Hi, I am Nala. I am a 9 month old female Alaskan Malamute. My first owners were very inexperienced in dog raising, and didn't treat me very well, so I am a little shy and have some separation issues if left alone. My current home is very good to me, but I can only be there temporarily, and need a real home all my own very soon. I am house trained, and get along with dogs of both sexes and all sizes, and am also fine with cats. Older children who are gentle would be fine, but I would be afraid around busy, noisy children. I can climb a chain link fence, so if you have one of those, I am not the dog for you. I love my toys, and like to go for rides. I do need some patience and more training, I am still a baby after all. Are you looking for someone who needs you?

O'Malley's foster parents write about her: O’Malley is a 2-3 year old, spayed female Malamute who came into our care as a stray. We believe she was on the run for up to 5 weeks before she came into our care. The first time we saw her we realized she was too vulnerable and magnificent to be sent to the local humane society. She has been with us since mid-March and has warmed nicely to the idea of a warm bed, long walks with her new pack, and, mostly, meal time. O’Malley was very underweight when she arrived, but has since begun to fill out and shine with a steady diet of food, exercise, and love.
O’Malley is a Mal that will need a loving home with abundant patience. She will probably need a crate or house of her own, as she’s always been most comfortable in enclosed spaces she can call her own. Her leash skills and response to basic commands are improving; she’s done a commendable job of house training; and is an accepted member of our household pack. She has shown no signs of aggression towards either our Siberians or 8 year old daughter at any time. O’Malley is still very much wary of any swift movement or loud sound (she is slowly accepting our daughter), cars in particular, but shows signs of improvement with repetition. O’Malley will make a wonderful companion and pack member.

Hi! I am Tekaani, a 3 year old Malamute/ Australian Shepherd mix. I get along well with other dogs and I love to play with all kinds of humans; big and small. I would be a great jogging partner in rain or shine, and although I’ve never been skijoring, I love the snow and I bet I’d be really good at it! My current family loves me very much, but they live near lots of livestock, and that has proven to be my only fault. I do well on a leash and know simple commands. I like to take baths, I like to be brushed, but most of all I love being with my people. Do you need a new buddy to explore the outdoors? Hail, I am Caesar! I am 4 years old and I have unique, floppy ears, but am an AKC registered Malamute. I am a nice boy, house-trained, and already have some formal obedience training. I still need some leash work, however, and like most Mals, come is more of a suggestion, but I know sit, lay, and paw. I have been living with a mellow male dog, but my best bet for a compatible canine would be a female Mal with a calm personality. I am good for the vet and the groomer. I have been around children as young as 7, and would like to be in a home with children that age and older. No cats, unless you want them to disappear, and NO livestock (the livestock issue is the reason for me needing a new home). I love people, and am quite high energy, so would like an active family who wants to take me roller blading, skijoring, hiking, etc. I also love tummy rubs and snacks! I have been in a loving home for most of my life, but because of some big changes, my family has put my needs ahead of their own and decided I deserve to be with someone who has more time for me. I am a healthy, spayed, 6 year old, Australian Shepherd / Rottweiler mix, who loves going hiking, going for walks in the neighborhood, and snuggling up with you as closely as possible. I would do best as an only dog, however, if you have a mellow male, I wouldn't mind having a brother. These are the adult dogs from a Montana puppy mill raid. They have all been spayed/neutered and treated by a vet. They are all in various stages of socialization. They need homes. A couple of people experienced with huskies have been working with some of the dogs and said that after working with them for a few months that they have all gained their trust and would be great dogs if someone is patient and earns their love. This couple would be glad to talk with any potential adopters.

Through no fault of his own, Lobo has come into rescue at age 8. He is in excellent health and physical condition and is an active and playful boy. He really wants to have his own home again where he will be loved. Lobo is a really good boy and does very well with obedience. He knows sit, down, stay, heel, shake, come, get in the truck and give me a kiss....what more could someone ask???!!!!! Lobo is really a good car rider, in fact, he loves to go for rides and he sits quietly and waits when left in the car alone. He does have a high prey drive so would not be good in a home where there are cats or other small animals. Lobo is a beautiful dog who would make someone an awesome companion and who has plenty of good years left...perhaps someone with an older female who has lost her companion??? Lobo is neutered, current on innoculations and housetrained. He is currently in foster care in NV.

Neeko is a beautiful male Malamute about 2-3 years old. He is a loving but energetic guy who was originally sold as an amateur sled dog. He came into rescue after his owner dumped him as a stray. He's good with other dogs, mostly OK with cats (inside) and probably loves kids but would knock preschoolers over with his exuberance and big tail. He loves to sit on the couch with his head in your lap. A secure fenced yard is required and prior successful experience with northern breed dogs preferred. Neeko is crate and house trained, neutered and current on innoculations.

Axle and Rose came into rescue after being picked up by a Tulsa shelter as strays. They are probably siblings and really like to be together. They are healthy young adult Malamutes and we recently found out that they know a few basic commands like "Sit" and "Shake." At this time in their young lives they are living in a boarding kennel instead of romping and enjoying family life. They are gentle and friendly and seek human attention. Won't you consider this lovely matched pair? You'd have teach them a bit, but they are eager to learn. Rose and Axel are both altered, and up to day on innoculations. Moab is a 3 year old Siberian Husky who was dumped at a shelter by his previous owners because he was "too skittish". He is a timid guy, but is friendly once he warms up. He loves attention on his own terms and he just needs someone to give him a chance to relax and realize that he is in a safe environment.
When Moab was rescued from the shelter he was infested with whip worms. He also developed a nasty respiratory infection, but he is healthy now and gaining some weight back. Moab is house trained and crate trained and will be harness broken soon. He shows a lot of potential as a recreational team member or pet for an active home. He has very nice gaits and a good build. He has done well around cats, but like all other Siberians should not be trusted alone with them. He does not have an aggressive bone in his body and would do best in a home with another dog as a playmate. He absolutely adores other dogs and loves to hang out and curl up by dogs and humans on the couch in the evenings. Because he is a little shy, he would do best in a home without young children and he absolutely has to have a secure yard.

Nikita is a sweet natured 8 year old Alaskan Malamute who was dumped at the Humane Society because her owners were moving. She had glaucoma in one eye, but the other eye is clear and she is not blind. However, the shelter would not adopt her out. Rescue found two vets who agreed to removed her bad eye at no cost, and she had that operation on Saturday, 5/15. She is good with other dogs and a love around people, housetrained, spayed and current on innoculations. She is probably not good with cats.

Pumpkin’s name say’s it all. She’s orange, she’s round and she’s cute as can be! Pumpkin may be a bit older but time has been kind and she’s still a fabulous “redhead”. She makes everyone comfortable with her ready smile and sweet demeanor. She may have had a hard life up to this point but that hasn’t effected this girl’s spunk. She would love to take leisurely walks with you and enjoy the attention she’s sure to get from every passerby.
Pumpkin’s lifelong owner passed away but lucky for Pumpkin she was one of the eight other dogs rescued by Moonsong in the “Eight Above” rescue mission thanks to a tip by her owner’s son and a caring neighbor. She is now enjoying a more secure and safe environment in her new foster home. Pumpkin is fine with other mellow dogs but is unknown around cats and small children. This golden girl would love to go to a family who will give her the love she deserves and make her golden years her best years (and maybe help her shed that last stubborn five pounds).

Brando is a big, loving, energetic character. He'll come right up to anyone and lean into them to get as close as possible in a kind of big body hug. He's affectionate, sweet natured malamute who lives life to the fullest. And considering what he's been through that's amazing!
Brando came to Moonsong as a part of the “Eight Above” rescue operation. He was one of many dogs who were found high in the mountains, neglected and chained to trees.
He loves basking in the sun, running in the play yard, and mostly, warmth and affection from people. Brando will need to have obedience training in his new home, but he is a smart and willing student. He would make an excellent running or ski-joring partner!
Brando gets along fine with the other mellow females from his Eight Above pack. He will need secure fencing. He knows he's not perfect, but tries hard to please the people around him. Brando is an athletic, active middle aged boy. He wants to go home --- for the first and last time.

Hi, my name is Taro. I was found as a 4-5 month old stray puppy, and I am about a year and a half, so not too much is known about my past. I had been on my own for quite some time when found, so I am still a little cautious about people, especially some men, but I eventually warm up to the ladies! I want to chase kitties, so am not safe with them. I am young and busy and really enjoy the company of other dogs - in fact I just LOVE other dogs! I will continue to need help learning social interactions with people, however, and require structure in my life and need some training. I am very smart, however, and am already house trained! I am also current on inoculations, neutered and micro chipped. Now I just need a patient, caring home to help me with my education. I will need at least one other playful doggie friend to live with.
