Moonsong Foster Malamutes >> Timber
Size: Large | Age: Young | Gender: Male | Breed: Alaskan Malamute/Great Pyrenees
Top of the morning to you all! My name is Timber and boy do I have a tail to tell you! I am almost two years old, neutered and current on all my vaccination. I am super friendly with humans, no one is a stranger to me. I am super cuddly and love to be the center of attention. My toys are my best friends and I love roughhousing with them. My favorite things are long walks with my humans, playing with my toys and scratches behind my ears. I get along with some dogs but would probably do best if I was the only pup in the house. I’m ok with kids but because of my size, it would be best if they were at least 8 or so. I’m a pretty mellow fellow. I don’t chew stuff up in the house that doesn’t belong to me and I don’t dig outside. In my breed, that is a rarity! I will also need a pretty secure fence even though I do well in the backyard at my foster mom’s and have not tried to go over it. My foster mom is a dog trainer and I spent 3 weeks at her training facility learning good manners. She said I am a quick learner and easily trained even though I do sometimes exhibit the Malamute trait of selective hearing! Timber loves to talk and serenade you when you are fixing his meals but watch out…if you are being too slow about it, he will let you know.
I spent the first year and a half with my first fur mom in Montana. I was kind of a handful for her because I sure had some health problems for a while that she couldn’t afford to treat. She contacted Moonsong and with their help and the help of a very compassionate vet, found out what was going on with me. I have been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, the name of which is too long and hard to pronounce. It’s kinda rare in dogs and usually found in cats. Under stressful situations, I can develop mouth sores and skin problems and have a sensitive stomach but with the right diet and supplements, it is easy to control. I don’t take meds for it and haven’t had a flare-up for months.
Timber has been in 3 foster homes and one training facility in a very short period of time due to no fault of his own. He has developed some separation anxiety but it is very manageable and the longer he is with someone, the less it affects him. He’s a little possessive with his toys but his current foster mom is working with him on this around her other dogs. If you have another dog, its best to feed them in separate areas. He is house trained and loves chillin’ with his humans. Timber needs a home with no small children and no cats. Timber is looking for a pack to call his own and a family to love on him.
